Fishing Report - June 28, 2015

The Cumberland River is on fire right now. Sunday, Jerry from Lexington decided to chase some trout on the Cumberland. It was very good to say the least. The bite was on all day and hardly slowed at all. Brook, rainbow, and brown trout filled the net consistantly all day. There were plenty of stocker trout caught, as well as several very nice fish in the 17-20" + range. The big difference in the bite was the water clarity. Clarity had substantially improved from earlier trips even just a few days ago. It made all the difference. Flies that were hot and bringing them to the net were on the smaller side for a change. If you had any type of flash at all, fish were slamming it. I'm not sure how many fish were netted, but it was a lot. The pinch at the powerlines allowed us to have the river mostly to ourselves for a majority of the day. Jerry even let me fish for a while as we drifted in and out of countless rises . It was nice Jerry, thank you. Perfect weather with very blue skies and big puffy clouds only made fishing better. This week the weather forecast is calling for the typical daily chance for afternoon thunderstorms Don't think that forecasts for rain should necessarily stop you from fishing. Often times fish will turn on after a rain when calm sets in. Crazy things happen in the river after storms. Watch the weather and generation schedule and if everything aligns you need to go fishing. We can put you on fish, just give us a call. Ball games and softball practice have us off the river until Thursday. We won't be guiding over the 4th of July. Please enjoy the upcoming holiday weekend and celebrate the adoption of the Declaration of Indenpendence that happened way back on July 4, 1776. Were all blessed to live in the United States of America, the greatest Country in the world!
